Heublein Tower - Metacomet Trail

Click here to go to the index page...

A long and weaving trail with only one steep section - it culminates in a visit to the highly visible Heublein Tower.

Summary

This trail has a southern terminus at the Heublein Tower, and a northern terminus at a trailhead near the entrance to Talcott Mountain State Park. From the north trailhead, it winds, sometimes doubling back on itself, through a variety of woods to the east of the ridge. Eventually, it climbs the ridge and follows it south to the tower.

Looking down on dark ice that reflects the blue sky and shows a strange comma shape melted smootly into the surface. The trail skirts a hill, almost hidden by grey trees under a bright blue sky. A few bricks on the ground mark the path's turn against the leaves. Tens of columns of bluish ice rise up from the soil. Some brown leaves in the foreground complement the cold blue of the ice. A pale trunked cedar with dark, almost maroon foliage, standing against a deep blue sky.
