A 12,000+ year old pond nestled in the woods near Pinkham Notch.

Summary

The Lost Pond Trail is a largely gentle trail past 12,000+ year old Lost Pond. It can be started from either the Pinkham end or the Glen Ellis Falls end.

The trail is fairly flat, with only one confusing section through a maze of boulders - be careful not to be lost here.

The location of the pond offers stunning views of Huntington Ravine, a classic glacial cirque, some of whose boulders have come as far as Lost Pond.

The trail also has a couple of very pretty bridges and parallels both the outflow from the pond, and the small river that leads from the Presidentials to the Glen Ellis Falls.

The hair is coarse and brown with black. A view across Lost Pond, with trees and hazy mountains beyond. A Great Blue Heron swims toward shore with a fish or frog in its mouth. A clean flat wood bridge crosses the stream on the flat dirt section of the Lost Pond Trail that leads away from the Lost Pond.
