Lost Pond Trail - 2002

A combination of two trips to this enjoyable location in one vacation. First, fleeing a thunderstorm on the Thompson Falls trail left us with time when the weather cleared. Then, we went back later in the week for a rest day.

Summary

The Lost Pond Trail is a largely gentle trail past 12,000+ year old Lost Pond. It can be started from either the Pinkham end or the Glen Ellis Falls end.

The trail is fairly flat, with only one confusing section through a maze of boulders - be careful not to be lost here.

The location of the pond offers stunning views of Huntington Ravine, a classic glacial cirque, some of whose boulders have come as far as Lost Pond.

The trail also has a couple of very pretty bridges and parallels both the outflow from the pond, and the small river that leads from the Presidentials to the Glen Ellis Falls.
