Heublein Tower - Metacomet Trail

The white rectangular tower with its brown trim and pyramid shaped peak looms above a wall of weathered basalt.
A long and weaving trail with only one steep section - it culminates in a visit to the highly visible Heublein Tower.

Monadnock White Dot Trail - Winter

Sue blurred in the foreground and Dan blurred by wind, snow and fog in the background.
An incredibly cold adventure in 70 mph winds, snow, and fog - and we almost got lost!

Mount Tom - Metacomet / Monadnock Ridge

The ridge is orange brown and grey rock falling away as a cliff on the left. Bare trees cap the top and the distant landscape beyond shades into blue sky.
The tip of a long ridge at the southwest end of a massive arc of cliffs and slopes, marked with highly visible communication towers, long ago the home of a resort hotel.

Peak Mountain - Metacomet Trail

A distant view of two major buildings from the colonial era - to the right, a white building (Viets) and to the left, the brown and orange prison buildings.
A pleasant ridge trail overlooking colonial-era mine / prison Newgate Prison.

Penwood Park / Metacomet Trail

A wide trail between dark trees.
The Metacomet is one of several trails through Penwood Park.
