Named for a Sachem of the colonial period (Metacom), this trail extends from mid-Connecticut to the Massachusetts border where it joins the Metacomet-Monadnock

Hatchett Hill - Metacomet Trail

A steep hill leads up between thinner pine trunks to a massive gnarled oak tree.
A multiple hill section of the Metacomet, with a large gravel pit, historic stone fences, and some very old trees.
 

Heublein Tower - Metacomet Trail

The white rectangular tower with its brown trim and pyramid shaped peak looms above a wall of weathered basalt.
A long and weaving trail with only one steep section - it culminates in a visit to the highly visible Heublein Tower.
 

Newgate North - Metacomet Trail

A jumble of flat traprock boulders with bare trees and blue sky beyond.
The trail to the north of the outlook above Newgate Prison.
 

Peak Mountain - Metacomet Trail
