Applachian Trail / Maine Wilderness - View From White Cap Mountain (Panorama) Looking across about 30 miles back toward Mount Katahdin. Because of the winding nature of the trail, this is about 55 miles of hiking away. The alpine landscape is pretty normal, with scrubby trees, granite chunks and lemon colored lichen on the stones.
