 A small subordinate peak below Mount Washington provides a lovely hike with all the vast sights of the White Mountain National Forest.

Lowe`s Bald Spot - View From Below

This image may be of Lowe's Bald Spot as seen from the ground to the north of the Mount Washington Auto Road parking lot. A key telltale is the barely visible cut of the Mount Washington Auto Road below the slightly bare spot on the ridge, and the possible reappearance of the road up above it, just near the cloud line.

As this image shows, some landmarks can be difficult to identify.

Lowe`s Bald Spot - Trail Signs At Pinkham Notch Camp

The trail signs at Pinkham Notch don't show the distance to the Bald Spot, but the road is about 0.3 miles from the Bald Spot, so the total distance is about 1.8 miles.

Lowe`s Bald Spot - Attention Sign

The trails in the White Mountains are difficult in themselves, but the added concern of a weather that can produce hail or snow in the summer means that even casual day hikers are wise to bring additional resources.
