Airline and Israel Ridge Trail - The High Waterfall Crossing

The waterfall has, over the centuries, revealed these large rocks. The water stream today is strong from snow melt and rain. This waterfall is on the course of Cascade Brook, which originates above the Perch.

Airline and Israel Ridge Trail - Mossy Stream

This is a small stream that is running some water down the slopes of Mount Adams. The rocks show the characteristic rounding that represents the action of glaciers from tens of thousands of years ago.

Harts Pond - Stream With Ice Opening

This slow moving stream is mostly covered with ice, expect for this one spot where the water is exposed, perhaps as a result of turbulence in the water.

Cascade Brook Trail - Stream Foam

Very likely this is not soap, but the highly aerated proteins of destroyed microorganisms. This is similar in many ways to the "seafoam" often seen in greater volumes at the seashore.

Cascade Brook Trail - Cascade Brook

At this height, around 2300 feet, the Cascade Brook has been joined by another brook from Kinsman Pond, and become larger and more rapid in its flow.
