Mount Greylock / Jones Nose - Grassy Clearing

This slope across some of the ridge bedrock is a pleasant home for grasses - one of the few areas of that sort before the summit.

"Spittlebugs" are the nymphal stage of small leafhopper-like insects that live in the center of a secreted sphere of froth, which protects them from predators and dessication.
