Tariffville Gorge / Metacomet - View Of Manitook Mountain and Marsh Pond

A bluish flat-topped dome of mountain beyond a nearly equal colored pond nestled in thousands of bare trees.

A closeup of the silhouette of Manitook Mountain, a 650 foot tall, fairly flat-topped hill in Northern Connecticut. Visible from the last outlook on the ridge before Hatchett Hill Road, this is the tallest hill between here and Massachusetts.

This also shows clearly the area of Marsh Pond that has silted in over the years, with the outflow channel running from the very rightmost edge of the image. Unlike many ponds, this is not a stream fed pond, but is actually a staging area for water from the ridge heading toward the Farmington River.
