Mt. Tom / Metacomet - Railings At Last

A sand colored pavement, glinting with mica and shiny stones, cracked with age, is edged with a two level rusty metal railing.

Many years ago, the summit of Mt. Tom was host to a large hotel (shown in this postcard). There are very few remnants of that time (the early 1900s), but this sidewalk is one of them. It offers a stunning view to the south and west, and is, itself, an interesting contrast.
