Peak Mountain / Metacomet Trail - The Summit From The Ground

Rocky cliffs rise from an early winter bare forest, made of spiky broken brown basalt spires.

This view of the Peak Mountain cliffs from the valley to the north and west (actually right in front of Newgate Prison) shows the shattered basaltic columns below the summit, and the forest that covers the side of the hill.
