 Lonesome Lake - Deer Mushroom On Stump

 

A velvety brown capped mushroom, with the cap having a pale edge, and a coffee colored stalk, sprouts from a moss and lichen covered stump

This young mushroom is probably either a Deer Mushroom (Pluteus atricapillus) or a young Lactarius lignyotis (which is a mushroom with a latex-like sap).
