 Mount Greylock / Jones Nose - Spittlebug Froth

 

A small globe of a soapy substance on a grass blade.

"Spittlebugs" are the nymphal stage of small leafhopper-like insects that live in the center of a secreted sphere of froth, which protects them from predators and dessication.
