 A 12,000+ year old pond nestled in the woods near Pinkham Notch.

Water reflecting a blue sky holds angular brownish driftwood and yellow flowered lily pads. A Great Blue Heron wades at the edge of the tannin-brown pond with a slough of driftwood to the left and trees behind. A Great Blue Heron swims toward shore with a fish or frog in its mouth. On the far side of the pond, the female moose steps from the water, forequarters high, head turned from us.
