Lost Pond Trail - 2001

 A 12,000+ year old pond nestled in the woods near Pinkham Notch.

A Great Blue Heron swims toward shore with a fish or frog in its mouth. On the far side of the pond, the female moose steps from the water, forequarters high, head turned from us. On the far side of the pond, the female moose steps from the water, forequarters high, head turned toward us. The enormous and complex bowl of rock and low greenery rises in the distant haze beyond a line of trees. A clean flat wood bridge crosses the stream on the flat dirt section of the Lost Pond Trail that leads away from the Lost Pond.
