The tip of a long ridge at the southwest end of a massive arc of cliffs and slopes, marked with highly visible communication towers, long ago the home of a resort hotel.

A shaded road leads between ranks of trees toward a sunlit low brown building Slightly wet leaves glitter on the swath of sunlight cast down the trail by a direct-ahead sun Shiny wet bark, like textured metal, spotted with soft gelatinous globs ranging from clear to flourescent yellow. Long tree shadows streak toward us across the path; stone slats level the trail ahead. The trail rises steeply, sloped from side to side, shaded by the hillside. Bent trees bracket the trail and lay their roots across.
