Imp Face Trail Loop - Holly Vines

Tiny alpine plants flourish even in less than alpine environments. This round-leafed holly sits beside a fairly well lit section of the Imp Face trail along the headwall of the valley.

Low grasses and flowers amidst rocks. Some of the grass is reddish, and the flowers are yellow, white, and purple.

Alpine Garden Trail - Alpine Flowers

Tiny purple, yellow and white flowers (probably Marsh Violets, Alpine Avens, Bluets [Alpine Zone of the Presidential Range, Bliss]) enjoy a short window of existence in this harsh environment. Even on this perfect summer day, with the winds partly blocked by the Mt. Washington summit cone, you can see the grasses and flowers bent by the wind.
