 A small subordinate peak below Mount Washington provides a lovely hike with all the vast sights of the White Mountain National Forest.

A pinkish orange mushroom with a maroon and orange stem rises from beneath a root. It has a hemispherical cap.

Lowe`s Bald Spot - Possible Boletus calopus

This mushroom is too young for a certain identification, but it makes a pretty spot of color growing from beneath this trail crossing root. It may be the "Scarlet-stemmed Bolete", which lives in a symbiotic ("mycorrizhal") relationship with the trees it fruits near - perhaps even the one beneath whose root it is emerging.
