 An 1800 foot mountain on the border of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

A wood raftered structure, supported by thick posts. The ground casts a reddish light up onto the underside of the roof.

Mount Watatic, Wapack / Midstate Loop - Remnant Shelter

This little shelter is covered with engravings from many past visitors, and represents the lowest part of the more park-like area around the summit, formerly a location for a tower.

Mount Watatic, Wapack / Midstate Loop - Summit Road

This brief view of the road toward the summit was taken as a side jaunt from the trail. We preferred to hike up the woods way. But the view is beautiful. The contrast between the road, the rusted ski lift remnant to the left, and the flawless sky makes this an exceptional sight.

These trails cross below the summit and offer a lovely open space with perfect sun.

Even on top of a mountain, one can find the hardy dandelion. A native of Eurasia, this plant is ubiquitous worldwide.
